Student funding guides for the 2023-24 academic year

These 2023-24 guides are updated versions of previously published guidance by Senedd Research. The guides include information on the financial support available to those studying further and higher education courses.

Senedd Research is regularly asked about student finance and these guides set out information about some of the questions we are most frequently asked. They are not intended as a comprehensive guides and advice on specific cases should be sought from Student Finance Wales.

Financial support for students in further education 2023-24

This guide provides information on the different types of financial support available for full or part-time further education course in Wales from September 2023.

Further education often means education from the ages of 16 to 18, although adults can also participate. It is usually run by local colleges and sixth forms.

Financial support for undergraduate students in higher education 2023-24

This guide provides information on financial support available to eligible students planning to study a full-time or part-time undergraduate higher education course in 2023/24. This guide is relevant to students who are ordinarily resident in Wales.

Financial support for postgraduate students in higher education 2023-24

This guide is intended to help postgraduate learners understand what financial support might be available to help them to study a higher education course.
