Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) are one of the main tools used to conserve the marine environment in Wales. The vast majority of the protected area contained within the Welsh MPA network has been designated under European legislation.
Our new publication provides a background to MPAs in Wales. It explores the different types of MPAs, the condition of sites and the management regime in place for the network. It also provides information on potential changes resulting from Brexit.
