The Senedd’s Academic Fellowship Scheme gives academic researchers an opportunity to work with the Senedd on a specific project.
Researchers can work on a research project proposed by the Senedd through ‘directed calls’, or suggest a project themselves through an ‘open call’. This can involve examining the Senedd itself or producing research to be used by Members of the Senedd.
Fellowships are open to academic researchers who have a PhD and are employed at a higher education institution in Wales or elsewhere in the UK.
Fellows will normally be funded through their own institutions, either through existing research impact funding or through an agreed allocation of their own research time. The Senedd may provide small amounts of match-funding in certain circumstances.

2020 Fellowship Scheme update
We suspended the Fellowship Scheme in March 2020 because of the disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. We are currently assessing needs and aim to announce new directed and open calls later in 2021.
