New Publication: Unconventional Gas: shale gas and coal-bed methane

National Assembly for Wales Research Service

We have updated our 2012 research paper on unconventional gas.  The paper outlines the potential for and environmental concerns about unconventional gas extraction in Wales including by hydraulic fracturing or ‘fracking’. It covers the recent changes brought into effect by the UK Infrastructure Act 2015. It also explains the implications of the St David’s Day announcement about further devolution for the unconventional gas licensing and planning application processes in Wales.
